There are more than 100 different rheumatologic diseases classified as a type of arthritis. For information, check these sites.

 American College of Rheumatology (ACR)
ACR is a professional organization of rheumatologists and associated health professionals who are concerned with the varying forms of arthritis and related disorders. The web site is geared primarily to professionals and members, although there is a basic set of fact sheets for patients.

 Arthritis (about.com)
Formerly the Mining Company Guide to Arthritis, this well organized and nicely presented site features news, net links, features, bulletin boards, chat, and more. Beware of possible conflicts of interest with health- and drug-related advertisors and sponsors.

 Arthritis Foundation[starred entry]
The Arthritis Foundation's web site is filled with useful information about the arthritis and coping with it, including fact sheets, an online magazine, message boards, as well as information about the organization, its chapters, and its ubiquitous online store. We found the organization a bit awkward, and recommend using the site map.

The Arthritis Webpages of Drdoc On-line
Dr. David Gotlieb, a rheumatologist from South Africa, offers an extensive collection of information about the different forms of arthritis, general information, and links.

Missouri Arthritis Rehabilitation and Training Center
Fact sheets about arthritis, exercise, research and children's issues, links to regional arthritis centers, fibromyalgia resources, and more.

National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) [starred entry]
Part of the National Institutes on Health, the NIAMS web site offers fact sheets, brochures, statistics, resources, and other information for consumers, as well as scientific resources, grant and contract information, clinical studies and reports, etc. for scientists and health professionals.
