American Diabetes Association (ADA): Informative patient education materials and tips on a wide range of diabetes-related topics, up-to-date diabetes news, state laws, and a whole lot more.

Children with Diabetes: This extensive site is designed to help kids with diabetes and their families learn about diabetes, meet people with diabetes, and help others with diabetes. Hundreds of pages include a wealth of informational materials, lots of opportunities for interaction, links, and more.

Diabetes.com: This regularly updated PlanetRx.com site provides a wealth of current news and information about diagnosis, diet, tight control, complications, sex, women's issues, profiles, support, children's resources, finance, and prevention.

The Healing Handbook for Persons with Diabetes [updated 8/31/00]: Sponsored by the University of Massachusetts Medical School's ADA Diabetes Center of Excellence, this is an excellent, full length textbook about diabetes. Spanish and Hebrew translations are also available.

Juvenile Diabetes Foundation International (JDF) / The Diabetes Research Foundation [added 10/13/00]: JDF claims to be the world’s leading nonprofit, nongovernmental funder of diabetes research. Founded in 1970 by parents of children with diabetes, its mission is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Its web site includes basic fact sheets and research news, as well as information about the organization.

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (National Institute of Health): This government site offers a wealth of informational and educational materials for patients, including easy-to-read and Spanish language publications.
