Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities
(CCD) CCD Housing Task Force
- "The CCD Housing Task
Force works with Congress and the Department of Housing and Urban Development
(HUD) to increase access to decent, safe and affordable housing for all people
with disabilities and to protect the rights guaranteed under the Fair Housing
Act." Its website offers a variety of reports and documents on the subject.

Guide to Accessible Housing
- This Abledata Informed
Consumer Guide examines what accessible housing is, discusses the types of
products available to achieve accessibility, and offers resources to assist
in this endeavor.

Habitat for Humanity International
- The home page of Habitat
for Humanity International, "is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian
housing organization. We welcome all people to join us as we build simple,
decent, affordable, houses in partnership with those in need of adequate shelter."
According
to the web site, "HFHI's board of directors has endorsed the concept
that all Habitat houses should incorporate basic accessible design features,
such as a zero-step entrance and wide passage doors and hallways. Houses built
in partnership with families with disabilities include additional accessibility
features."

National Accessible Apartment Clearinghouse
(NAAC)
- NAAC maintains a national
database of accessible apartments, with a registration of more than 46,000
units. Its website includes information about the organization, a toll-free
number to contact for apartment referrals, and a form to list an apartment.

National Fair Housing Advocate
- A project of the Tennesse
Fair Housing Council, this website includes news, statutory information, links,
online discussion groups, and more. Its database of almost 2,000 fair housing
cases is available on a subscription basis.

National Home of Your Own Alliance
- Based at the University
of New Hampshire Institute on Disability, this technical assistance center
offers online information about state coalitions, barriers, links, Section
8 voucher information, funding sources, and related material.

Opening Doors
- "Opening Doors is
a housing initiative designed to provide information and technical assistance
on affordable housing issues to people with disabilities, their families,
advocates, and service providers across the United States." Its website
includes news, fact sheets, reports, and related material.

U.S. Department of Housing
and Urban Development (HUD) - People with Disabilities page
- Looking for information
about the fair housing laws? supportive housing for persons with disabilities?
HUD housing initiatives? Although information about HUD's services for people
with disabilities is not longer maintained in the separate section that we
preferred (bye bye red asterisk), this page at least pulls together disability-related
information from all parts of HUD's web site through pertinent links.
