The
Rehabilitation Act of 1973 is most widely known for Section 504,
which prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities
in programs that receive federal funding. The Rehabilitation
Act Amendments of 1998 are included in title IV of The Workforce
Investment Act of 1998. The Workforce Investment Act also includes
a newly revised Section 508, which imposes strict requirements
for any electronic and information technology developed, maintained,
procured, or used by federal agencies.
The RSA
was established by Congress to carry out the Rehabilitation Act

1998
The Workforce
Investment Act of 1998 was designed to consolidate, coordinate,
and improve employment, training, literacy, and vocational rehabilitation
programs in the United States. Title IV of The Workforce Investment
Act includes the Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1998, which
reauthorizes the law for five years and makes minor changes.
A unique

Section
508
A revised
version of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 is included
in Section 408(B) of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998. This

procured, or used by federal agencies.
