15th is sooner than you think! The following are primarily links
to Internal Revenue Service (IRS) publications that describe
credits or services for people with disabilities or their caregivers.
This free
service from the AARP Foundation uses IRS-trained and certified
volunteers to prepare tax returns and answers tax questions for
people of all ages with middle and low income, with special attention
to those age 60 and older. This site also features an online
question-and-answer service and helpful links to additional tax
information on the web.
You may
be able to claim credit if you pay someone to care for your dependent
who is under age 13 or for your spouse or dependent who is not
able to care for himself or herself. This IRS publication explains
the tests you must meet to claim the credit for child and dependent
care expenses. It explains how to figure and claim the credit.
This publication also discusses some of the employment tax rules
for household employers.
This IRS
publication provides more detailed information about the credit
for the elderly or disabled. In particular, it explains who qualifies
for the credit for the elderly or the
disabled, and how to figure this credit. (This document is in
