Tracheostomy

A tracheotomy is a surgical procedure in which an incision is made in the trachea (windpipe). The incision forms a temporary or permanent opening, called a tracheostomy. The terms "tracheotomy" and "tracheostomy" are sometimes used interchangeably. The following sites provide information for people with tracheostomies and their caregivers.
