We
wish all our veterans a special thank you today and always. Here
are some valuable resources for America's approximately 2.5 million
veterans with disabilities.
This center
was established "to improve the function, independence,
and quality of life of veterans aging with disabilities and those
acquiring disabilities as they age." Its web site includes
information about the center and its staff, projects, and publications.
Information
about the organization and its services, including a downloadable
magazine and news releases relating to issues affecting veterans
with disabilities. A long list of links of interest to veterans
(with and without disabilities) is also included.
The PVA
web site offers a wealth of information for veterans with spinal
cord injuries and related disabilities, including information-packed
sections on living with sci and on sports and recreation, a newsroom,
resources for professionals, and information about the organization
and its services.
This Center
is "dedicated to developing innovative clinical treatments
and assistive devices for veterans with physical disabilities
[particularly stroke, osteoporosis, spinal cord injury, and arthritis]
to increase their independence and improve their quality of life."
The web site discusses its staff, projects, and products.
The VA web
site is packed with information of interest to veterans with
disabilities, but you'll have to do some heavy hunting (searching
the word "disabilities" brought up eight pages of hits).
There's no separate section for vets with disabilities, although
the Compensation
and Pension Benefits, Vocational
Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E). and Health
Benefits and Services sections should be of particular interest.
Many downloadable forms are included.
