Although the symptoms of Tourette's Syndrome can vary from a mild tick to more pronounced neurological and behavioral manifestations, the need parents of children diagnosed with this disorder have for relevant and current information remains constant. For years, many families have turned to Tracy Lynne Marsh's classic in this field, Children With Tourette's Syndrome: A Parents' Guide. Now, over fifteen years since the publication of that consumer-oriented volume, Marsh has compiled a second edition with many of the chapters updated by the original contributors. In addition to this re-working of material from the first edition, this second edition includes new examinations of up-to-date medications, legal issues, educational laws and rights, and behavioral interventions. Conceived and compiled by an author with Tourette's Syndrome in her family, Marsh's book presents knowledge from a variety of academic and scientific subject areas as well as sociocultural factors in a reader-friendly format at a very reasonable price.
About the reviewer: A former college librarian and occupational therapist, Sally Rosenthal is a frequent contributor to magazines, anthologies, and websites on the subjects of disability, companion animals, and working dogs
