Respite Care

Caregivers sometimes need a break. “Respite” generally refers to short term, temporary care provided to people with disabilities so that their family members can have a few hours or a few days off.
ARCH (National Resource Center for Respite and Crisis Care Services)
The ARCH National Resource Center for Respite and Crisis Care Services supports service providers and families through training, technical assistance, evaluation and research. Its web site includes the extensive National Respite Locator Service as well as fact sheets, links, and other resources.
National Respite Network
The National Respite Network seeks to keep families together by promoting the development of respite options nationwide. The Network operates the ARCH National Resource Center for Respite and Crisis Care Services (see above) and the National Respite Coalition.
