Canadian Paraplegic Association (CPA)
A valuable resource for our northern neighbors, the CPA provides services to Canadians in all ten provinces. Its website includes an overview and news about SCI as well as information about the organization and its services.

Foundation for Spinal Cord Injury Prevention, Care & Cure (FSCIPCC)
Basic SCI information and links for consumers, with a focus on prevention.

Informed Consumer’s Guide to Assistive Technology for People with Spinal Cord Injuries
This ABLEDATA Consumer Guide provides information about equipment and devices that can make life easier for people with SCI.

Paralyzed Veterans of America
Information for veterans and others with spinal cord injury or disease, family members, and professionals. Includes news, membership information, and a wide variety of excellent publications.

The website of The National Spinal Cord Injury Association (NSCIA). Check out the Resource Center, which includes many of NSCIA’s excellent fact sheets on SCI-related topics. There’s also a newsroom featuring current stories of interest to people with disabilities, and information about the organization.

UW Rehabilitation Medicine – NW Regional Spinal Cord Injury System
Includes Spinal Cord Injury Update (an excellent newsletter on SCI for health care professionals and consumers); pamphlets on health, pressure sores, skin, and bowel care; and information on the facility’s speaker series, clinic, and toll-free consultation and referral service.

Research
Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation (CRPF)
CRPF “encourages and supports research to develop effective treatments and a cure for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury and other central nervous system disorders.” Its website contains information about the Foundation’s programs.

Cure Paralysis Now (CPN)
Designed to help researchers and clinicians share potentially relevant information, this site includes an online magazine, live chat forums, FAQ, links to sites doing interesting neuroscience and related research, and more.

Spinal Cord Research Center
Information about research is underway at the Center, which is based at the University of Manitoba (Canada).
